Ho Chi Minh City Hotels Offer Up to 100% Discount for Night Flight Passengers
/ 20/07/2024Sixteen tourism accommodation establishments in Ho Chi Minh City have agreed to offer discounts ranging from 20% to 100% on the first night's stay for passengers who purchase night flight tickets.
Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism collaborated with the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association and Vietnam Airlines to organize a meeting with travel agencies and accommodation providers. The goal was to encourage the promotion of night-flight products in Ho Chi Minh City.
Although airlines have increased the number of night flights to help reduce ticket prices during the peak summer season, these flights have not attracted many passengers, leading to many cancellations.
During a recent aviation and tourism seminar, Mr. Le Hong Ha, CEO of Vietnam Airlines, mentioned that in May, the airline had to cancel 10% of its night flights due to low passenger numbers.
To address this, Vietnam Airlines is now encouraging accommodation establishments to join in creating packages that combine night flight tickets with discounts of up to 80% on the first night's stay (with a minimum stay of three nights).
As of July 8, sixteen accommodation establishments in Ho Chi Minh City, including Dong Khanh Hotel, The Myst Dong Khoi, Muong Thanh Luxury Saigon, Liberty Central Saigon, and A25 Hotels, have registered to participate.
These establishments offer discounts ranging from 20% to 100% on the first night's stay based on listed prices, with the second night's stay priced at either the listed rate or a 60% discount.
Vietnam Airlines will work with these registered establishments to develop combo packages that include round-trip air tickets and two or three nights of accommodation to attract more tourists to Ho Chi Minh City.
A representative from Vietnam Airlines noted that in May and June, the airline recorded high occupancy rates of 75% to 94% for flights operating between 9 PM and 5 AM to major tourist destinations such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Quy Nhon, and Phu Quoc.
"This positive result is due to the rapid and extensive cooperation between the national airline and various provinces, cities, and partners," the representative said.
Vietnam Airlines has also launched a promotional program for domestic night flight tickets, with fares (including taxes and fees) starting at VND 1.1 million per leg for economy class and VND 1.9 million per leg for business class.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Man, Marketing and Communications Director of TSTourist, previously mentioned that the tourism industry is not in favor of very late flights due to the additional hotel costs incurred. Therefore, cooperation between airlines, hotels, and travel companies is necessary to create favorable flight schedules for group travelers, ensuring benefits for all parties without causing inconvenience to passengers.
To address this issue, Mr. Hoang Nhan Chinh, Secretary-General of the Tourism Advisory Board (TAB), suggested that hotel businesses adopt more flexible check-in and check-out policies, rather than the current rigid practice of check-in after 2 PM and check-out before 11 AM.
