Night Flyers to Ho Chi Minh City Receive Free or Discounted Hotel Stays

On July 15, the Department of Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City announced its collaboration with Vietnam Airlines and local travel businesses to launch a campaign promoting the use of night flights. This initiative aims to optimize the use of aircraft and personnel, reduce airfares during peak travel seasons, and boost tourism by attracting more visitors to the city.

The program aims to meet the rising travel demand during the peak summer season of 2024 and stimulate the city's tourism industry. Vietnam Airlines encourages tourist accommodation providers to participate in creating packages that combine reasonably priced flights, particularly those departing before 6 AM and after 9 PM.

Participating accommodation providers will offer free or up to 80% discounted first-night stays, with a minimum stay requirement of three nights.

As of July 8, 16 tourist accommodations in Ho Chi Minh City have registered to participate, offering various discounts ranging from 20% to 100%. For example, Dong Khanh Hotel offers a 100% discount on the first night's room rate, with subsequent nights charged at the full rate.

Another centrally located hotel, The Myst Dong Khoi Hotel, offers a 49% discount on the first night's room rate and a 53% discount from the second night onward, including a daily buffet breakfast and mini afternoon tea buffet from 2 PM to 4 PM, and free access to the pool, gym, sauna, and steam bath.

Based on the registrations of the 16 establishments, Vietnam Airlines will proactively contact and work with these providers to create combo packages that include round-trip air tickets and two or three-night accommodation at local hotels, aiming to attract more tourists in 2024.

Recently, other destinations such as Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Hanoi have also experimented with increasing night flights and collaborating with accommodation providers to attract tourists, especially during peak seasons. However, most of these efforts have focused on offering promotional packages for room rates and spa services or combining night flights on a smaller scale.
