Thi Sach is a short street, and if you walk straight down it from Silverland Jolie you arrive at the river: 280 m from our door at 4D Thi Sach, about four minutes on foot. This whole guide grows out of that short walk.
It is written for two kinds of readers: travellers deciding whether Jolie suits their trip, and guests who have already booked and want to know which way to turn when they step outside. We have arranged it as one unhurried day, from morning coffee to a drink on the rooftop, rather than as a list of attractions.
Updated October 2026. Distances and walking times come from Google Maps, measured on 14 October 2026 from 4D Thi Sach, as continuous walking time without stops. Opening hours come from each venue’s own published information and can change on public holidays.

The short answer
From Silverland Jolie it is 4 minutes on foot to Bach Dang Wharf Park on the river (280 m), 3 minutes to the courtyard at 74/7 Hai Ba Trung (250 m), 6 minutes to Metiseko on Dong Khoi (400 m) and 7 minutes to the Saigon Opera House (450 m). Ben Thanh Market is 1.2 km away and Ben Thanh Metro station 1.5 km, which is 16 and 21 minutes on foot, so for those two take a car.
A small street that leads to the water
Silverland Jolie is at 4D Thi Sach Street, Sai Gon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, in the central area travellers still call District 1. Our entrance is on Thi Sach, not on the riverbank. But the street runs straight towards Ton Duc Thang, the road that follows the river, so the water is always at the far end of your view.
In the other direction, via Dong Du and Dong Khoi, are the shops and the Saigon Opera House. Those two directions give you two different afternoons: one beside the water, one among the streets. You do not have to choose, because only a few hundred metres separate them.
One thing about the river deserves a plain statement. It is close, but the view of the river is a feature of our rooftop, not of every room category. If you want to look at the river from your bedroom, tell us when you book and we will confirm it for the exact room type. Our article Silverland Jolie Riverside Stay goes into this in more detail.
This area is not right for every itinerary. If your trip revolves around Ben Thanh Market and the Metro, Silverland Ben Thanh is much closer to both, and if you prefer the Japanese quarter around Le Thanh Ton Street, look at Silverland Sakyo. Jolie suits people who want a slower rhythm: walk a few hundred metres, sit a little longer, and come back.
Under the tamarind trees on Thi Sach
If your booking includes breakfast, have it at Jolie Restaurant on the ground floor on your first morning. The buffet runs from 6:30 to 10:00 daily, so there is no need for an early start. Coffee outside is for your second morning.

The nearest café is Bason Café Thi Sach, 290 m away on the same street, about four minutes on foot. It is in the lobby of Silverland Mây at 28-30 Thi Sach, not inside the Jolie building, so when you arrange to meet someone, send them this address. The café has large windows facing a row of tall tamarind trees and is open 7:00 to 22:00. Its late closing makes it an evening seat too, when you do not want to go far. See the Bason Café Thi Sach page for photos.
For a morning built around specialty coffee, The Workshop at 27 Ngo Duc Ke is 450 m away, about seven minutes on foot. It calls itself Vietnam’s first specialty coffee bar and brews pour-over among other methods. The room is on the second floor, so on your first visit keep your map open instead of looking for a shopfront at street level.
The courtyard tucked behind Hai Ba Trung
At 74/7 Hai Ba Trung there is a courtyard set back from the street, 250 m from Jolie, about three minutes via Dong Du and Hai Ba Trung. Two places share the courtyard: Hoa Tuc at number 74/7E, and a small counter called 74 Banh Mi, Cafe & Tea.
Hoa Tuc cooks Vietnamese dishes with a contemporary twist: familiar flavours reworked, with a long wine list beside them. It is open continuously from 11:00 to 22:00 daily, so it works for lunch or dinner. Reservations are on +84 28 3825 1676. Hoa Tuc also runs cooking classes in which students go to the market with the chef, cook under instruction and then sit down to eat the result. If you are travelling with someone and have a free morning, ask about it before you arrive.
When you only want something quick, 74 Banh Mi in the same courtyard is faster: a banh mi and a drink, then on your way. It opens 8:00 to 21:00 and closes on Sunday, so check the day before you count on it.
Dong Khoi: two shops, two kinds of gift
Metiseko is at 157 Dong Khoi, 400 m away, about six minutes via Dong Du and Dong Khoi. The brand works with two main materials, organic cotton and mulberry silk, and makes clothing, scarves, accessories and home furnishings. It is open 8:30 to 21:30 daily. Cotton and silk are cared for differently, so when choosing a gift the useful questions are size and washing instructions, not only the pattern. Because the shop opens late, you can drop in after dinner instead of giving up a whole afternoon.
Saigon Kitsch is at 43 Ton That Thiep, 750 m away, about ten minutes via Mac Thi Buoi. It sells quirky gifts and souvenirs built on images of Saigon, from ceramics and kitchenware to prints and small keepsakes. It is further out than the other places here, so combine it with a walk towards Dong Khoi rather than making a separate trip. For friends at home, small things that pack flat and carry one clear image usually work better than several identical ones.
The riverbank in softer light
Walk straight down Thi Sach to Ton Duc Thang, then cross to Bach Dang Wharf Park at the pedestrian crossing. This is a major road with constant traffic, so wait for the signal and cross one stretch at a time.

We suggest going in late afternoon, when the sun has softened. At midday it is hot, and that hour is better spent indoors. You do not need a fixed destination here: walk to the water, stand for a while and come back the way you came, and that is enough for an afternoon. To go further along the bank, read our guide to the Saigon River.
If you would like an afternoon with more depth, the Ton Duc Thang Museum at 5 Ton Duc Thang, 300 m from Jolie, presents the life and career of President Ton Duc Thang through its exhibition. It is open 7:30 to 11:30 and 13:00 to 17:00 and closed on Monday, so visit in the morning or early afternoon.
When the lights come on: the Opera House and Nguyen Hue
The Saigon Opera House stands at 7 Lam Son Square, at the head of Dong Khoi, 450 m from Jolie. Looking at it from outside has no time limit. The dependable way in is to see a performance: check the programme and buy a ticket in advance, at the box office in the basement of the building. If there is a show you want to see, choose the performance first, then fit dinner around it.

Nguyen Hue Walking Street is 550 m away, about eight minutes via Mac Thi Buoi. It is open space with no ticket, which makes it a good plan for evenings when you want nothing scheduled. The whole street is closed to traffic on weekend evenings; at other times the central plaza is for walking and the lanes either side still carry traffic. Walk a stretch that suits your energy and turn back; there is no need to cover all of it. When there is an event the street is much busier, so do not treat every weekend evening as the same. Our guide to Nguyen Hue Walking Street has more detail.
Back up to the rooftop
Returning to Jolie, the rooftop is what remains of the day. The open-air Jacuzzi is open 7:00 to 21:30, and closes earlier than the bar, so if you want a soak after a walk, go up before dinner. The gym is open 6:00 to 21:30. Afternoon tea at Jolie Restaurant runs 14:00 to 15:30, a good pause between two outings.

Jolie Rooftop Garden Bar is open 10:00 to 23:00, with reservations recommended and smart-casual dress suggested. One detail to plan around: the bar takes its last drink order at 22:30, and in-room dining runs 10:00 to 22:00 with last orders at 21:30. So the sensible evening is dinner at Hoa Tuc (open until 22:00, only 250 m away), then back up to the bar for a drink and the view of the city. The bar is a place to linger, not a place to have dinner.
Two slow routes
The river route, via the Hoa Tuc courtyard (950 m, about 13 minutes of walking). From 4D Thi Sach walk along Dong Du and Hai Ba Trung to the courtyard at 74/7, have lunch at Hoa Tuc or stop at 74 Banh Mi, then continue to Bach Dang Wharf Park, stroll a stretch along the river and return. The full distance measured on Google Maps is 950 m. Your real time depends on how long you sit at lunch and how long you stand by the water.
The street route, to the Opera House and the riverbank (1.3 km, about 18 minutes of walking). From our door follow Dong Du to Metiseko at 157 Dong Khoi (400 m), continue 54 m to the Saigon Opera House, then walk from the Opera House to Bach Dang Wharf Park (500 m) and return. The full distance measured on Google Maps is 1.3 km. Google Maps chooses Dong Khoi for the stretch from the Opera House to the river. If you would rather walk down the middle of Nguyen Hue, turn in at the head of the street, and the distance will differ a little.

Frequently asked questions

Is Silverland Jolie right on the riverfront?
The hotel is near the river, not on the riverbank itself: our entrance is on Thi Sach Street, 280 m from Bach Dang Wharf Park. The view of the river is a feature of the rooftop, where the open-air Jacuzzi and Jolie Rooftop Garden Bar are, not of every room category.
Is there a good café near Silverland Jolie to meet a friend?
Bason Café Thi Sach, in the lobby of Silverland Mây at 28-30 Thi Sach, is 290 m away and open 7:00 to 22:00. For specialty coffee, The Workshop at 27 Ngo Duc Ke is 450 m away. Send the café’s own address so your friend does not confuse it with our entrance at 4D Thi Sach.
Can I walk from Silverland Jolie to Ben Thanh Market and the Metro?
You can, but it is a fair distance: Ben Thanh Market is 1.2 km away (about 16 minutes) and Ben Thanh Metro station 1.5 km (about 21 minutes). If your plans revolve around those two, take a car, or consider Silverland Ben Thanh, which is much closer to both.
Should I spend the evening on Nguyen Hue or at the rooftop?
You can combine them. Nguyen Hue is 550 m away, free to enter and good for a short stroll after dinner. Jolie Rooftop Garden Bar is open until 23:00, with last drink orders at 22:30, so have dinner out and come back up for a drink and the view.
An afternoon that does not need a far finish line
At Jolie, the stretch between street and river is the part we would point you to: going out when the light softens, passing a few corners, then coming back to a familiar room. An evening given only to the riverbank is still a full evening. If you are planning a trip, see the Silverland Jolie hotel page to choose where to stay, and Silverland Jolie Romantic Stay if the trip is for two.
