Silverland Ben Thanh Hotel Celebrates The 2024 Continental Luxury Destination Award

Silverland Ben Thanh Hotel took three titles at the 2024 World Luxury Hotel Awards, barely a year after the property reopened across the street from Ben Thanh Market.

The hotel was named Asia’s Luxury Destination Hotel, with two regional titles alongside it: South East Asia’s Best Architectural Design and South East Asia’s Luxury Design Boutique Hotel. The results were announced on 18 November 2024.

Three awards in the first full year

The World Luxury Hotel Awards has run since 2006 and judges properties on guest experience, service and design, with votes coming from guests and industry professionals. Taking a continental title in a first full year of operation is unusual. All three awards point at the same thing: the building, and how guests move through it.

Silverland Ben Thanh Hotel has 109 rooms and suites. Upper floors look over the city centre and the heritage clock tower of Ben Thanh Market, which sits directly opposite.

A red-sand facade that skips the usual formula

The hotel is easy to pick out from a distance by its red-sanded facade. Inside, the design leaves aside the marble-and-chandelier vocabulary most luxury properties in District 1 reach for. What guests find instead are windy corridors, asymmetrical shapes, and tall wide windows that pull daylight deep into the floor plan.

One detail explains the brief better than the rest. Artworks assembled from fabric scraps carry the outfit patterns worn by the women who run the shops and stalls around the hotel. The market next door is not treated as a view. It is treated as source material.

Smith’s Kitchen & Bar, on the roof

Smith’s Kitchen & Bar takes the rooftop and draws walk-in diners as well as house guests. The dining room is pillar-free, so the view across the city centre runs unbroken. The curved rough-iron work through the room is the telling detail: shapes simple enough to look effortless, and difficult enough to need a skilled blacksmith.

Ben Thanh is not the only Silverland property recognised by the World Luxury Hotel Awards. In 2025, Silverland Sakyo won Luxury Concept Hotel in Asia, and Silverland Mây was named South East Asia’s Luxury Boutique Hotel in 2024.
