Silverland Sakyo Hotel won Luxury Concept Hotel in Asia and Luxury Contemporary Hotel in South East Asia at the World Luxury Hotel Awards 2025, announced on 18 November 2025.

Both titles reward the same idea: a hotel that puts Japanese calm and Vietnamese warmth in the same building without either one feeling like decoration.

Driftwood at the door

Silverland Sakyo sits on a busy street inside Little Japan in the centre of Ho Chi Minh City. The first thing guests meet is a miniature driftwood landscape, nagare boku. In Japanese design driftwood is not simply a material. It carries the wabi-sabi idea that impermanence and imperfection are worth keeping. Rather than new, smooth surfaces, the hotel leaves each crack, scar and curve in the wood visible as part of its history.

A day at the hotel

Mornings start at Hareta hi Restaurant with a breakfast buffet that mixes Vietnamese, Japanese and international dishes. Afternoon tea is served daily in the lobby at no extra charge, which is a quieter alternative to going back out into the heat.

The roof is where the concept lands hardest. Saigon Oasis is an outdoor bar tucked among the office towers, with a jacuzzi pool alongside and bamboo that moves in the wind. The palette is deliberately minimal without being austere: green leaves, open sky, cold water, a cocktail. Guests can also book treatments at KL Spa on site.
